Complaints Insult God

Psalms 34:3: O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.

My complaints do not magnify the Lord. When I complain, I am always complaining about something that God has caused or permitted. I demonstrate my ignorant belief that I deserve something better than He has caused or permitted in my life. When I complain I demonstrate my ignorance or disregard for some truth about God: He loves me, He knows best, He does best, He permits what is best, He is all knowing, He is all wise, He is all powerful, He is involved, He is sovereign over everything. Complaining gets the same judgment as using His name in vain. We must understand that it is speaking evil about Him. We should feel just as guilty about complaining as we should about using His name in vain.

Numbers 14:27: How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me. 28 Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: 29 Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me,

1 Corinthians 10:10: Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

If we are saved, everything that happened to us before we were saved happened because God was patiently preparing us to receive Jesus at the right place and the right time and to get us into His will. If we are saved, God intends everything that happens to us from now on to keep us in His will and to get us back in His will when we get out of it. What is there in His planning and oversight that we have to complain about? Absolutely nothing. One reason Christians complain is because they are not having their own will and because they don*t want God*s will. Another reason they complain is that they often do not know what God is doing. When it is best for them to know what He is doing they will know. When it best that they not know what He is doing they will not know. The only person we should complain to is God Himself. When we ask others to pray for us, it should not be a complaint, it should be a stating of facts. Prayer is not complaining. It is seeking God*s help. He is the one who can remove the trouble we complain about if removing it is best. He is the one who knows if removing it is best.

Psalms 102:1 is a prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed, and pours out his complaint before the LORD.

Psalms 102:1: Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee.

Psalms 142:2: I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.

When we complain we are ungrateful, we are not praising God and we are disobeying Him.

1 Thessalonians 5:18: In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Psalms 113:3: From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD*S name is to be praised.

When we complain we are not glorifying God.

1 Corinthians 10:31: Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

When we complain we are not at peace and we do not know God as well as we should or as well as He reveals Himself to be in the Bible.

2 Peter 1:2: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
